Practice Management

The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

There are a team of staff who work in the background, their role is to ensure the smooth-running of the practice.  This includes maintaining the practice computer system, updating patients medical records, ensuring that patients are reminded to attend the nurse or doctor for their routine check-ups, dealing with all aspects of correspondence and managing the running of a busy office environment.

Jackie completed her nurse training at West Cornwall Hospital, Penzance in 1977. She was a district nurse attached to the surgery in 1983 to 2004.

Jackie has since been employed by the practice from January 2004.

Our receptionists are usually the first point of contact and are here to help you. They have a lot of information to hand and in most cases will be able to help with your enquiry, ensuring you see the most appropriate clinician. Nonetheless, it is your right to request to talk only to the doctor. Anything that is discussed with the receptionists or any other member of the team is treated in strict confidence. You have a right to be treated courteously, and our receptionists also have a right to be treated courteously by you. We can offer a degree of privacy at a separate reception booth if your enquiry is sensitive. Please respect the privacy of other patients by standing well back from the reception desk until your turn. The main telephone line is 01736 710505, which opens at 08:30 Monday to Friday. Please ring this number to speak to a receptionist about any enquiry, to arrange a home visit or telephone consultation.
